Learn moreProudly serving the Poway community
Poway is home to families, educators, business owners, first responders, veterans, and professionals who commute across San Diego County. Behind busy family schedules and stable careers, alcohol dependence, prescription medication misuse, opioid addiction, and untreated anxiety, depression, or trauma can quietly take hold.
In close-knit communities, people sometimes wait longer to seek help because everyone seems to know everyone. We provide care that is both genuinely local and genuinely private, so getting help doesn't have to mean broadcasting it.
Families are part of recovery
Addiction affects the entire family, not just the person using. Parents, spouses, and children often carry fear, confusion, and exhaustion long before treatment begins. For many Poway families, one of the greatest sources of hope is knowing they can participate in the recovery process.
We encourage family involvement whenever it is clinically appropriate, through education, communication, and family therapy designed to rebuild trust and strengthen relationships. Recovery is often most successful when families heal together.
Treatment programs for Poway residents
Every person entering treatment receives a thorough clinical assessment so we can recommend the level of care that actually fits. Depending on your needs, that may be residential treatment in a structured, home-like setting, a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with intensive day treatment, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that flexes around work, school, or family, or integrated dual diagnosis care when a mental health condition is part of the picture.
Evidence-based therapies, chosen for you

Our facilities in San Marcos and Carlsbad are a straightforward drive from Poway, close enough for loved ones to attend family sessions and treatment planning meetings without turning every visit into a road trip.
Why Poway families choose Present Moments Recovery
Poway families choose Present Moments Recovery because we stay small on purpose. Every client is known by name, every treatment plan is individualized, and families are treated as partners in recovery rather than spectators.

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept insurance?
PMR may work with PPO and POS plans that include authorized out-of-network benefits. We can explain benefits information and possible next steps based on your plan and recommended level of care. We do not accept Medicare or Medi-Cal. PMR is an in-network provider for TRICARE and TriWest. Eligibility, benefits, authorization requirements, and clinical criteria vary by plan and must be verified before admission. Coverage, authorization, admission, placement, and payment are not guaranteed.
How quickly can someone be admitted?
In many cases, same-day or next-day assessments are available depending on clinical needs and program availability. The fastest way to find out is to call or text us.
Do you treat alcohol addiction?
Yes. We treat alcohol use disorder along with opioid, stimulant, prescription medication, and many other substance use disorders, from detox through residential, PHP, IOP, and continuing care.
Do you treat mental health conditions?
Yes, when they occur alongside a substance use disorder. Our dual diagnosis approach treats addiction and co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma together, because treating one without the other leaves people vulnerable to relapse.
Can family members participate?
Yes. Family involvement is encouraged whenever it is clinically appropriate, through family therapy, education, and ongoing communication with the treatment team. Recovery is often strongest when families heal together.
How long does treatment last?
Every treatment plan is individualized. Length of stay depends on clinical recommendations, your progress, and your personal recovery goals. Many people step down through levels of care over several months rather than finishing all at once.
Is treatment confidential?
Yes. Protecting your privacy is one of our highest priorities. Your information is protected by federal privacy law, and we do not share anything about your care without your written permission.
What if I'm not sure which level of care I need?
That is exactly what the first conversation is for. We will talk through what is going on, complete a confidential assessment, and recommend the level of care that fits your situation. No script, no pressure.
